Take the Dav Off!!!
Just a reminder that Labor Day will be celebrated nationally on Monday, September 7. As a result, there will be no school or ESP that day. Please plan accordingly, and try to find time to have fun with your family.
Let’s Do Dinner!
Our first PTO meeting will be held On Monday, September 14th at 6:30 p.m. in Caddell Hall. We hope all of our families will participate in this first all-school event of the year. We would like to start Off our meeting with a Pot-Luck Dinner. If you would like to join us in a meal, please bring any kind of dish that will serve five people. It can be a main dish, like fried chicken or enchiladas, or a side dish, like salad or baked beans, or even a dessert (YUM!!!). Since we are not “assigning” any particular item to any particular group, we might end up with a strange assortment Of items on our menu, but that’s OK; we will be sharing a meal, and building community. The school will provide drinks (coffee and sweet tea for the adults, and juice for the children), and paper goods. The main purpose of our first meeting is just to enjoy each other’s company, and meet new friends. So we hope you will all plan to attend!
The Power of Prayer
At Divine Redeemer Catholic School, we hold fast to the traditions Of the Catholic Church in all that we do. We Start each day with all-school prayer, where we recite formal prayers, and pray for the needs of the community. We emphasize “blessings for babies,” both bom and unborn, and we remember pilgrims who may be facing/enduring a difficult journey, whether it be physical or mental. Throughout the day our students have the opportunities to pray in the classroom at various times, to pray before and after eating, and to recite a decade of the Rosary each day. At the end Of the day we meet again as a group, and recite “An Act of Contrition,” and “The Prayer of St. Michael.” On Wednesdays we generally celebrate Mass as a group, and on those rare occasions when Mass is not available, we have a para-liturgy or prayer service. This week, on Wednesday morning, we focused on informal prayer. Before praying in small groups for our needs, we offered each other a sign of peace. After we had all placed our petitions before God, we sang a song of thanksgiving. At Divine Redeemer we have experienced great things as a result of Our prayers, and we believe that God truly listens to the desires Of Our hearts. Please remember to spend time in prayer with your children at home. pray for our school, that we may be a blessing to all with whom we share our faith. AMEN!!
On Wednesday, September 9th at 6:30 p.m., there will be a special meeting for all parents who are interested in having their children participate in our athletics programs. This year we will definitely be offering Girls’ Volleyball (which is already underway), and Archery (which will begin soon). We would be happy to offer both boys’ and girls’ Basketball if we have enough students interested, and enough parents willing to serve as coaches. Please come to this meeting and work with our Athletic director, Miss Lori, and some of our coaches, and see what we can come up with for Our students. We want to offer maximum participation for all of our students, but we need your help to make this happen. Keep in mind that there is an additional fee for athletic participation, and students must maintain good grades and display excellent behavior if they wish to be on a team. We hope to see you Wednesday, September 9th at 6:30 in Room 5!
