Registration 2016-2017

All of our discounted ($75.00) Face-to-Face registration sessions have now been completed.  We currently have about 70% of our families re-registered for the coming school year.  If you have not yet registered, please do so at your earliest convenience.  (Likewise, if your children will not be returning to DRS, please notify us immediately.) It is very important for us to know approximately how many students we have in each grade so that staffing and budgeting decisions can be made in a timely manner, and we can begin the process of ordering textbooks and other instructional materials.  At this time the registration cost is $100 per student, but that figure goes up incrementally every few weeks, so register now and save money.  You can bring your completed registration packet to the school office during working hours, and Miss Tracy will get you signed up and ready for the new school year.

Reminder:  Our enrollment numbers have risen significantly, and some classes are getting near to capacity. Wait Lists will be forming for some classes that are full.  (Please note:  if we have enough on a wait list to form a separate class, that will be a consideration.)   Don’t delay and then be disappointed.

Tuition Assistance Opportunities Are Limited

Any families that are currently on financial aid of any type are required to reapply, and to submit proper financial information, in order to be eligible to receive ongoing assistance.  The deadline to submit paperwork for the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Tuition Assistance is March 15th.  If you have not submitted your information by that date, you will not be eligible for tuition assistance.

Survey Update

As you may know, we are in the process of administering and tabulating our annual surveys.  Last week’s flyer had an incorrect survey number on it, but you were given corrected information earlier this week.  If you have not yet completed the online survey entitled, “Catholic Identity Defining Characteristics Parent and Community Survey,”  please do so TODAY, as the survey will close on Saturday, March 5th at 7:00 a.m.   Survey results are anonymous, and are tabulated by Advanced Ed, our accrediting organization.  Families that speak predominantly Spanish at home have been given a paper copy of the same survey in Spanish.  (Advanced Ed does not provide online surveys in any language other than English.)  The Spanish survey may be submitted to the school office by no later than Monday, March 7th, and will be Fed-Exed to Advanced Ed that same day.  Thank you to all the families who have already provided valuable input by completing the surveys.

Stations of the Cross

Our students have been doing a wonderful job of helping us to “walk with Jesus” each Friday during Lent.  On Friday, February 19th our 7th and 8th graders presented the stations, and on Friday, February 26th, students in grades 3 and 4 hosted.  If you would like to join us for Stations of the Cross on Friday, March 11th (grades 5 & 6), or Friday, March 18th (Faculty), we would love to have you with us.  Divine Redeemer Catholic School not only teaches our students the traditions of the Catholic Church by participating in weekly Stations of the Cross, but we also provide a service to the parish.  We are blessed to have a small group of parishioners join us each Friday for this opportunity to recall Christ’s sacrifices for us.  Stations will be held in the church at 2:15 p.m. on both March 11th and March 18th.  Please take advantage of this opportunity to share some time with Jesus during Lent!

“The Play’s the Thing”

Students in grade 6 and 7 will be traveling to Bishop England High School on Tuesday, March 8th, to see a special production of “Little Shop of Horrors.”  Each year our students are invited to be entertained by BE theatrical students, and it has never been disappointing.  Their productions of such musicals as “South Pacific,” “Grease,” “Anything Goes,” and several other shows have always been lively and fun.  It is a great opportunity for our students to enjoy live theater at no cost.  Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. Wiegel, along with a few parent volunteers, will be chaperoning this field trip.

Archery Team Headed to State Tournament

Congratulations to our elementary team archers, Reagan Leopold, Connie Bui, and Tracey Bui, who each received a personal invitation to compete in the state tournament in late March.  In addition to these elementary archers, Coach Provost will also be bringing a team of 17 middle school archers to the tournament, which will be held in Sumter, South Carolina.  Divine Redeemer Catholic School placed fourth of all of the schools in South Carolina, which is amazing, considering that we are probably the smallest school that has been competing all year.  Good luck, Eagles!

Faculty Lifelong Learners will be Out and About

As you already know, our entire faculty will be attending a diocesan-sponsored regional inservice tomorrow at Christ our King, in Mount Pleasant.  Our all-day class will find us learning about Brain Function from a nationally acclaimed speaker, and will no doubt benefit all of our students.  Additionally, Mrs. Vice will be on retreat in North Carolina with all of the Catholic school principals in the diocese next week, on Tuesday through Thursday.  Please keep her in your prayers, as you will be in hers.  The following week Mrs. Hughes will be spending two days in Columbia, working on updating the diocesan curriculum for both Science and Social Studies, in conjunction with the ACE Program at Notre Dame University.

It’s Black and White… We expect you at the Silent Auction on Saturday, April 16th!
