First Communion 2016
On Saturday, May 7th, most of our second graders, and one third grader, received First Holy Communion at a beautiful morning Mass, which was well-attended by friends and family members. Looking absolutely splendid in their white attire were the following DRS students:
Danny Baber Aiden Burrell Lindsey Burridge Arely Gonzalez-Hernandez
Sophia Hutchinson Sarai Lopez Yuli Lopez-Alor
Marcela Mora-Gutierrez Anna Margaret Richberg Sierra Soriano
Zayden Wijetunga Ivan Gonzalez-Hernandez (gr. 3)
Second grader Marco Martin had previously received his First Holy Communion, and Charlie Cease, who is not Catholic, was there to support his classmates.
Tomorrow, May 14th, will see two additional second graders, and two more third graders, celebrating this sacrament, with other members of the parish from our Spanish-speaking community. They are:
Ximena Tlatempa (gr.2) Emely Torres-Escobar (gr. 2)
Ricardo Gonzalez Zabrera (gr. 3) Jose Viveros (gr. 3)
Divine Redeemer Catholic School heartily congratulates all of our students on this milestone in their faith journeys.
Final PTO of the Year
Don’t forget to join us on Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. in Caddell Hall for the final PTO meeting of the year. We will be sharing a Potluck Dinner (please bring a dish for your family and 4-5 others), and then we will be giving out awards for Race for Education. Please plan to join us for what will prove to be a fun evening together!
Successful Drive for Catholic Relief Services
Mrs. Pease had spearheaded a drive for Catholic Relief Services, in light of the recent earthquakes in Ecuador. We want to thank each of our students for unselfishly contributing to this important fund. The school will be sending a nice check to Catholic Relief Services later in the week. Thank you!
Se Habla Espanol!
For all of our Spanish-speaking families…don’t forget that we now have a translator/interpreter available in our school office on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 7:30-9:30 a.m. Ms. Patricia McBride is anxious to meet all of our families, and offer her assistance as needed. Please stop by and see her when you have a chance.

Race for Education Update
The Race for Education went off without a hitch last Friday, under sunny skies and a gentle breeze. God provided us with the perfect weather for this outdoor activity. Many thanks to Miss Lori for all her work in planning and executing this annual event. We got off to a slow start on fundraising, but ended up with over $19,000 so far (exact numbers to be determined after paying bills). Excellent work, everyone, and the children had a wonderful day too!!! Proceeds from Race for Education are always used to offset costs of instructional materials (textbooks, technology, etc.), so together we worked to improve our dear school.
Who Has the Key to Miss Lori’s Heart?
Unfortunately Miss Lori lost her car keys on the day of Race for Education. If you happen to have picked up her keys by accident, please return them immediately. In addition to the two car keys, the key ring also had her son’s military dog tags, so she would really like to get them back.
However, despite her missing keys, Miss Lori’s heart was most recently stolen by her latest grandchild, Taylor Wiegel, who was born yesterday morning! Congratulations to the entire Wiegel family on this addition.
