No School Tomorrow due to Parent Teacher Conferences

Don’t forget to attend your scheduled Parent Teacher Conference tomorrow, October 28th.  If you miss your conference, you will need to reschedule with the teacher directly in order to receive your child’s Report Card.  You will also be getting your child’s ITBS scores.  Rescheduled conferences will be held during the regular working hours of the teachers, whose non-teaching time each day is from 7:30-7:50 a.m. and from 3:00-3:30 p.m.  Teachers are not required to come any earlier than 7:30 a.m., nor stay any later than 3:30 p.m., though they sometimes do so to accommodate your schedule.  Please do your best to come on Friday, and be on time so that the entire schedule doesn’t get behind.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Happy Halloween!

We will celebrate Halloween on Monday, October 31st, with students being allowed to dress in Halloween colors (orange and black), and we will have an extended morning assembly/pep rally.  Classroom parties will be held at 2:20 p.m.  Thanks to our Parent Club and all volunteers for providing treats for the children.

All Saints’ Day Approaching

Hope you are working on that Saint costume!  All Saints’ Day Mass is only a few days away, on Tuesday, November 1st at 8:00 a.m.  Remember that students will wear PE uniforms under their costumes, and then after Mass they can take off the costumes.  Please plan to join us for Mass that morning, and a picture taking opportunity afterward.

Election 2016, DRS Style

On Monday, November 7th, our middle school students will be presenting a special Election activity for all school families.  Come to Caddell Hall at 6:30 that evening, and experience our very own presidential candidates’ speeches.  All adults will also have the opportunity to cast their mock ballot.  Let your voice be heard.  The students will be voting on Election Day also.  Don’t miss this very special Production Night!

Hanahan Helps Haiti

A great big thank you to all who brought in items to share with our brothers and sisters in Haiti.  We were able to contribute many needed items to the City of Hanahan, who is coordinating this relief effort.

Good News for Middle School Campers

As you know, our students were unable to attend Camp St. Christopher due to Hurricane Matthew.  Fortunately, we were able to reschedule!  Students in grades 5-8 will now be going to Camp St. Christopher on Monday, January 16th through Wednesday, January 18th.  Revised paperwork for these dates will be sent home during the month of November.  It will undoubtedly be colder at that time of year, so be thinking about nice warm clothing and jackets when doing your Christmas shopping.

Veteran’s Day Celebration Lunch

Please look through your packet today for the flyer regarding Veteran’s Day Lunch, to be held on Friday, November 11th.  We will once again be celebrating Veteran’s Day with a delicious lunch in Caddell Hall.  This annual event is planned by Veteran Lori Wiegel, and as always, Vets eat free!  Be sure to send in your reservations!

Correction Regarding Thanksgiving Holiday

In last week’s Weekly Update we listed the Thanksgiving Holiday dates incorrectly.  (It showed days off as November 16-18.)  The correct dates for the Thanksgiving Holiday will be Wednesday, November 23rd, Thursday, November 24th, and Friday, November 25th.  We are sorry for any confusion caused by this error.

Attention Drivers…

We want to remind everyone about the rules for drop off.  First…SLOW DOWN!  The speed limit on the school grounds is 5 miles per hour.  Second…if your child is dropped off at 7:30 a.m. or after, they are to use the side door at the top of the stairs to enter the building.  The doors at the top of Caddell Hall are for the use of ESP families only.  Do not drive your child to the top of the hill after 7:30 a.m.  That door will be locked at that time, and the driveway leading to the top will be coned off from now on.  We want everyone to get to school and/or work SAFELY, and in one piece.  Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Did You RSVP for the School Picnic?

Our rescheduled picnic will be held on Saturday, November 19th.  It will still be at Wannamaker Park, but will be at the Tupelo Shelter.  The picnic will run from 11:00-3:00 p.m. If you haven’t already sent in your RSVP, do it today.  (We need a count by November 11th, so we know how much delicious food to purchase.)  We want everyone to come and have a blast at the Divine Redeemer Catholic School Picnic!
